Erdogan congratulates Biden on U.S. presidency, sends message of thanks to Trump
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday sent a message to Us President-elect Joe Biden, congratulating him on his victory in the recent presidential election.
President Erdogan expressed his wishes that the election results would bring “good for the people of the friendly and allied United States,” according to a statement from the Turkish presidency’s is on department.
“As we discussed during your tenure as vice president on several occasions, Turkish-U.S. relations have a strategic nature based on deep-rooted foundations,” Erdogan said, addressing Biden.
“The global and regional challenges facing us today make it imperative for us to further develop and strengthen our relations based on shared interests and values,” he said.
Erdogan continued to stress the need to work closely with the U.S. administration in this context in the coming period, expressing his confidence that the strong ties of cooperation and alliance between the two countries will continue to make crucial contributions to world peace in the future, as it is today.
Erdogan also thanked U.S. President Donald Trump for his “sincere efforts to develop Turkish-U.S. relations based on common interest and values.”
During his message, he stressed the development of historical friendship and alliance between the two countries, saying “we will make efforts in this regard in the coming period.”
