Former US Ambassador : Trump could cause significant damage to national security.
“I think, as a Republican, that the way to contain the damage is not only for the country, but for the party, that Republican leaders speak, as some do now, to recognize the reality and realize that Joe Biden is the president-elect,””. Polton said in an interview with a popular website.
“Since the election, we’ve heard huge evidence that would have shown fraud and a big conspiracy, but we haven’t seen that yet, and I don’t think there’s anything,” Bolton said. “I think the longer this goes on, the worse it gets for the United States and its reputation at the international level in particular when they see a president more disconnected from reality than before.”
On U.S. national security, Bolton said, “I think there’s a lot of damage he can do,” referring to Trump’s dismissal of Defense Secretary Mark Esper, saying the decision appears to be personally motivated and could have “serious harm.”
“This is the time when U.S. adversaries hope to turn our attention, to exploit us one way or another,” Bolton said. Bolton also criticized Acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller, who was appointed by Trump, calling him “very inexperienced,” but stressed his confidence in military leadership.
