Education Secretary Betsy DeVos resigns in letter criticizing Trump’s rhetoric amid riots
Rioters stormed the US Capitol, damaging property, stealing and confronting police officers
Some international sites confirmed that Education Minister Betsy DeVos resigned on Thursday, citing the riots that took place in the US Capitol building the previous day.
“There is no doubt that the impact of your speech on the situation is the turning point for me,” she told President Trump in a letter sent on Thursday.

DeVos was the last to quit among several administration officials who resigned after rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol, smashed windows, stole and confronted police officers.
In her letter, DeVos touted the administration’s accomplishments but noted that the Trump period was ending on a bad note. “We should highlight and celebrate the many accomplishments of your administration on behalf of the American people,” she said
She added, “The impressive kids watch all this, and they learn from us. I think we have a moral obligation to exercise good judgment and model the behavior that we hope will follow suit.
They should know from us that America is bigger than what happened yesterday. To that end, I am resigning today from my position
