Amidst a great precautionary atmosphere due to the Covid 19 pandemic, and after a delay of nearly two months, the announcement was made On Monday dawn the Golden Globe Awards,
where nomadland won the Golden Globe Award for Best Film, while its director Chloe Chow won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director, and the film won two of the most prominent awards for 2020, namely “The Golden Lion” from the Venice Festival and “People’s Choice” From the Toronto Festival, the movie starring Oscar-winning Frances McDormand, and it revolves around a woman who decides to spend her life on a permanent travel in the American West during the Great Depression
Andra Day won Best Actress in a Drama for “The United States versus Billie Holiday” and Chadwick Bozeman posthumously received the Best Actor in a Drama award for what became his final film role in “Black Bottom Ma Rainey”
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted the bicoastal virtual ceremony, with Fey presenting from the Rainbow Room in New York City and Poehler hosting from The Beverly Hilton in California, where the awards ceremony is traditionally held.
Netflix led the pack with a whopping 42 nominations. “Mank,” the streaming service’s film about “Citizen Kane” screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz, received the most nominations of any film this year with six, although it failed to win any of those awards. Netflix’s “The Crown” also garnered six nominations, the most for any television series this year as well. The historical drama took home awards for best drama, best actress, best actor and best supporting actress.
